An Invitation to the Heart – Dedicating 2016 to YOU

You are whole. You are powerful. You are divine.

Imagine how your life would transform if you dedicated the next year to YOU.

What if you ventured into a modern heroes quest this year, a sin-gle wo/man venturing out to find oneself, combat fear and doubt, reclaim power and vibrancy, and demonstrate strength of compassion and courageous love.  In this quest there is no one to save other than our own Soul.

This quest is an evolution from being other-focused to inner-focused. When our attention is trapped by fearful should’s, what ifs, and don’ts, we scatter our energy and struggle with knowing what is authentic for us. When we bring our attention back to discovering who we are on the inside—not who we wish we were or who we think we should be—we begin a sacred path of transformation toward our innate, authentic, embodied Soul and Spirit.

This is the path of the modern Hero and it requires a combination of focus, dedication, magic, authentic expression and honouring of a sacred union within and without.

Can you imagine if you consciously gave yourself a year to fully untie the cords, lies, and limitations wrapped around your soul and wiggle free of the old, too-tight cocoon?  Can you imagine a whole year dedicated to loving all of you, including you’re little girl, your little boy…that part of you that is scared of being abandoned and rejected and yet at the same time, scared of intimacy and closeness???

Loving our little child is the path to wholeness.  Being aware of the healthy masculine and healthy feminine within us so that they can get together, reparent our child so that s/he can grow up healthy and then guess what?  We have the holy trinity living right here inside of us.

So how do we love our little children?  The parts of us that are so afraid of Love and Life? Afraid of opening ourselves up enough to be loved?  Im going to refer to the inner child as our little girl, but of course we also have a little boy.  The little girl is just a little more tender ; ) and we all have her, weather we are in a male or female body.

1. Be patient.

Let things unfold at a pace that feels natural, which might be slower than what our adult consciousness would like.  Showing sensitivity to her pace will let her know that she doesn’t have to fear being out of control, she can take her time and be herself….no preasure.

2. Talk to your inner child.

Don’t drown out her voice with the ego, unravel how she feels and what she thinks even if it is totally irrational.  When she apologise to others or to you for stuffing up , tell her she doesn’t need to be sorry, and that you love her no matter what.  Get to know what she likes, what she doesn’t like.  What she enjoys and how she like to play.

Authentic sharing where she is given permission to be herself, to be vulnerable and transparent, honest about the state of her heart, honest about her courage and her fear, honest about her joy and her overwhelm, honest about her excitement and her dread.

3.  Create a safe container.

Part of this little girl’s struggle with letting herself be loved could be that she is relentlessly focused on being saved, on her dreams of Prince Charming,  that she forgets to make room in her life for herself.  It’s not something she does intentionally, she’s just extremely determined not to feel her feelings.

Support her to feel.  Be still and nurturing.  Create time to allow for her express and release. If you really love this little girl, encourage her to feel everything.  Be present, witness without judgement and be the safe container she needs to cry, rage, laugh, scream, dance…whatever is moving!

Let her know that her vulnerability is most beautiful and welcome.  Let her know she is loved until she begins to understand what that feels like, and then keep doing it. If you are really loving her, she’ll blossom and grow up…and remember that she is innocent.

4.  Spend time in nature.

Gift your self the Space to BE TOTALLY PRESENT with yourself, your little girl and with nature.

The more we cultivate our Presence ~ breathing, feeling, listening, heart undefended, feet on the earth, in this moment ~ the more magical all of life becomes. Magic isn’t just something airy fairy that happens in fairytales.

It’s a liberation of the life force energy, the creative life force that has always been and IS you. It  is not just something you do or make. It is something the universe does with you. It is our relationship to the Divine. There is nothing more magical than the presence of the sacred in ones life. It changes everything, It is extraordinary, beautiful and it defies the limitations within which we lead our daily lives. By ‘sacred’ I do not mean something set apart but rather inclusive of and interactive with the everyday; something held dear; something to be respected, revered, treasured and protected. And what is more sacred than the Earth, the elements, the animating Nature Beings that connect the ‘mysterious’ to everyday life as an animating vital lifeforce or Spirit. Nature takes us home…

When we experience deep love with a beloved, the world is full of magic, most people know that and have felt that. What some of us don’t always remember is that when we discover that this Planet is full of magic, we experience deep love with the whole world.

Our fear of being alone is CORE to the reason we long for something outside of ourselves to make ourselves feel better.  What if nature became your most beloved companion through life? What if you learned to connect with nature in such a way that Every time you look up and see a cloud and understand it, you are closer to understanding ourselves. When you pick up a rock or a shell, you are closer to some ultimate truth. When you hear a bird the wind and stop for the sheer pleasure of that sound, you are nearer to real life than we were before. When we acknowledge the beauty of life, we acknowledge the beauty we are.

5.  Forgive those you need to forgive.

I had a powerful realisation not so long ago about forgiveness. Forgiveness has nothing to do with weather or not someone actually wronged us. It has everything to do with the pain in our heart. I have only ever focussed on forgiveness when I have experienced what my consciousness evaluates to be a wrongful action, an injustice. But what about those actions that were not inherently wrong or unjust but still stab us straight through the our little girls heart? Our little girl who finally opened only to feel betrayed AGAIN! Our minds may tell us we do not need to forgive that person because they did nothing wrong but our little girl hearts have a different language. What I am finding is that when my inner child is feeling pain from another’s actions, especially if I am feeling betrayed, I need to forgive that person…even if they have done nothing “wrong”. We don’t need to tell them about it, but just go through a process ourselves where we allow ourselves to feel the knife go into the heart, express and release the heart howls of hurt and betrayal…feel it all….allow, allow…..cry, scream, let whatever you are feeling move….then FORGIVE so we may feel the power and relief of an open broken heart. It is truly transformative.

In situations in the past when I felt hurt or betrayed, I wouldn’t let myself feel the freedom of forgiveness, because I did not feel justified to forgive in the first place. I had the adult voice of justice and fairness saying “but they have done nothing wrong!!”…and would succeed in spiritual bypass…not allowing myself to fully enter the depths of the betrayal felt in my heart. Instead I would unconsciously suppress the sadness and pain and instead, feel resentment and retaliate (get them back!). So in an attempt to be consciously spiritual and not blame someone in any way for pain I was feeling, I would end up being as far from spiritual as you can get… and enter the realm of unconscious retaliation and punishment.

The beautiful thing about forgiveness, is that it is like a promise not to use someones actions against them in any way, overtly or covertly. And yes this is a compassionate loving act to them, but more importantly it is a compassionate loving act to oneself. It forms the bridge over which you yourself must pass…and on the other side is Union.

6. Use ritual as a way to shed the old and birth the new.

Ritual as an exquisite art that opens a gateway from the mundane world to the sacred. Ritual is an essential aspect to changing ones consciousness and is a powerful enacted meditation. It is a symbolic language that resonates with the depth of our beings, speaking to an aspect of ourselves that we may never have known existed. It gives the unconscious a vocabulary with which to communicate to the conscious. A language that speaks to the heart, to the Goddess.  Make ritual a part of your life.  The smallest of acts that symbolise and bring meaning to your life.

7.  Be committed to hearing seeing and feeling your little girls heart.

True power comes from deepening the relationship with our innermost thoughts and feelings.

Turning your attention to yourself  is the only way to know yourself and also to remember your true self that has never been wounded. When you create time for your own healing and inner exploration you can finally shift the many old, below the surface patterns and issues that drain your energy and cause you to create drama and feel unsatisfied in relationship.

Committing to yourself for a year is certainly simple, but not necessarily easy. Your old ways of being are so familiar that they can be difficult to shift. To stay present with your commitment to you, you need to say YES to yourself. You deserve it, your little girl deserves it, and the world needs YOU, whole, complete, and radiating.

This doesn’t mean you do not enjoy time and intimacy and relationship with others.  It simply means that the priority is YOU.  So that your cup is so full, interacting with others is an added bonus but not a necessity for your emotional survival!!!!

If you don’t love and honor yourself with every fiber of your being, if you struggle with owning your power and passion, if you could use more joyful play and simple presence in your life, then it’s time for a paradigm shift:  making yourself the most important person/thing in your life!

Exposing your innermost heart every day to what is happening in your body AND at the same time the glory that contains the possibility of the birth of a new human BEING, who has never been abandoned and who IS LOVE.

Please come and see me for a session or come to one of my events if you need some help/guidance.  I am here with you and for you on this most challenging, most rewarding path.

It is time to grow wings, free yourself and emerge as the complete Being you are and have always been.
